Wedding Announcement!

Well, here it is...

It's with enthusiastic anticipation mixed with a twinge of nervousness Jaime and Jay are proud to say, after eight years together, two and a half kids, three houses, three cities, five moves, and many, many laughs and poopy diapers (but not at the same time) we are getting officially married August 27th, 2016.

We are looking forward to sharing this moment with our friends, both old and new, who have made us laugh through the years. You [insert name here] have influenced us and shared in our dreams and struggles along the way to this moment and we would like to share it with you. Some we haven't seen for ages but the fact you are reading this hopefully gives evidence that you had a great effect on us, either individually or together. We would like for you to share in this special day and it also means we had the correct email address for you.

From our humble beginnings in Prince George at the workplace where we first met, to music trivia nights, pregnancies and changes in careers and locations, we are happy to be still as strong as ever and we feel now is the right time to get my Dad to shut up.

We will be having the wedding at the gorgeous Aspengrove Country Resort on Bluenose Mountain, just outside of Lavington. We have reserved the place for the weekend. There are seven rustic cabins (sleeping from 2-4 with one sleeping six) available on a first request basis. There is a cookhouse for meals, shower facilities and a fire pit. There is also plenty of room for camping starting at $30 a night with limited power hookups. We will also provide links to local hotels in Lumby and Vernon.

As a couple we are fortunate to already have a well-established home. Therefore, we have not created a gift registry. Your support on our special day is the best present we could receive. however if you would like to give something please consider in lieu of gifts a donation towards our honeymoon trip. We have set up a fund-raiser (hello, 2016!) here if you wish to donate and want to remain anonymous - otherwise we will also accept donations the old-fashioned way. Our destination will be determined by how much is raised and how long the grandparents will take the kids.

Please link to this blog for any updates, drama, and assorted other notes we may have as the time nears. We will send out mass emails when we have updated the site with any relevant details. You will see on the right side we have included accommodations links, our honeymoon fund, a FAQ page and also a guest list -some of you may see some names you haven't seen for ages. As people confirm or cancel, we will update the list.

So please let us know if you will be able to attend, either in the comments, email, phone, or in person. The resort opens on Friday for us, ceremony and reception on Saturday afternoon with an outdoor cook-out and dance.

  1. Jay!!!! So happy for you and Jaime! It has been much too long... Rwanda is a bit of a commute :-) I have a possible return to Abbotsford this upcoming summer for holidays, it is dependent on dates with work and a few other factors, but now "Jay and Jaime's wedding" will be on the list of things that influence the dates as best as I can. I will let you know if I can make it closer to the date when my leave is approved by the government, would be an honour to be there. Sending warm thoughts and love from Rwanda, please keep me on the email list for updates! Ryan
